Keeping Busy?

I am. My mitts are burned, my apron is stained, my chef's hat is floppy, but the flavor is delicious. Like ice cream and juju bees. Like gingerbread and homemade caramel toffee. You can see that this new painting, LA, 1980, belongs with Houston, 1986, stylistically and thematically. I have a couple of other quick works to finish before getting back to the big complex work in progress, Gold-Plated Dollar Dreams. Holler.

It's a No Show

I have decided, after much thought, that I will not be holding a private exhibition of my work in October. I know you're crying bitter tears of disappointment, but it seems to me the wisest choice for a variety of reasons. I'm going to press my nose harder against the grindstone, show you more stuff online, and focus on getting gallery representation. The web can be the private exhibition, although, of course, it lacks the power of physical presence, and, if I say so myself, some of the paintings have a definite surplus of presence. Of course, you can still buy sketches and watercolors through the site--for the oil paintings, you need to contact me directly using the "Contact" form on the menu on the other side of the page.

WIP It Good

I think that over the next couple of days, I am going to be putting up some photos of a current work in progress (WIP), to share my creative process with you, to enable to you to understand what I am up to artistically. It is called Gold-Plated Dollar Dreams, and you'll see it here first.

My New MySpace Page

Yeah, so I'm still working and stuff, of course--gotta churn out the product. But in some of my downtime, I have been exploring this here Internet thing--namely MySpace.com. I have already gone totally google, as you can see on any one of the purchase pages. I also use google analytics, which can grow to be an obsession.

But MySpace.com is a whole other ball of wax, and it only took me a day of potentially precious painting time to put my profile page together. Anyway, my name is amiribarksdale, and that's the name of my page.

Write me here, there, or anywhere, and I'll get back in touch! I promise. Really.

The Series Continues...

Yes, the 10-painting series, Funky, Krunk, and Boojey Junk, of which the first 6 parts appear on the homepage, is moving right along. You know, this art thing is hard work. Within a month or so, you ought to be able to see the next in the installment. It's big, it's bad, it's beautiful, and you're going to want it like you've never wanted anything before. Unless, of course, you're like me, and have a monumental appetite in general.

Welcome!

The site has been up only a couple of weeks, since my little brother's birthday on June 19, but I've already been doing renovations as of July 4. If you checked the site that day, you noticed things out of place or just sort of messed up. It's not over yet, either. Please bear with me, and send me an e-mail using either the e-mail link or the contact form over on the other side of the page.

No Paintings?

Those of you still checking for me from time to time, I should tell you why I’ve not been posting or painting anything. Back in April 2007, I decided I needed to do something to have more time to paint. So, I started my own business. It’s called metalabel.com, and we sell music online for independent artists. As you might can imagine, this takes an incredible amount of time. I haven’t even picked up a brush since April! I hope to get back to it soon, though. Thanks for reading.
